Employee Spotlight � David Quinlan

David has a certificate in tool and die making from the Connecticut Vocational Technical Schools. He has received a BS in Engineering from Central Connecticut State University.� He is a member of the Association of Professional Model Makers.

He has spent the early part of his career as a tool and die maker. He has worked as a lead person, set up and ran production equipment, designed and built progressive dies for the specialty lock industry.

He has many years of experience setting up and running conventional machines as well as set up and programming of CNC machines. He has written custom post processors and set up DNC communication between CNC and personal computers.

He spent over a decade in the aerospace industry where he has designed and built jigs, fixtures and dies for fuel control components.

He has set up Aerospace quality control systems to be in compliance wit MIL-I-45208A. In addition to extensive experience in military specifications, he was instrumental in setting up and maintaining a QC program which complied with the requirements for manned space flight hardware.

David had spent over a decade working for Timex Corporation where he worked in the Industrial Design (ID) Department and Manufacturing. While in the ID department, he set up standard procedures and formats for the design releases. He communicated the technical requirements from engineering and manufacturing to the designers and provided lessons to the engineers in the language of design.

David was the manager of 3D design for ID and was in charge of the world wide CAD implementation. He is an expert in 3D solid modeling and Unigraphics solid modeling to build accurate CAD models which communicated the design intent.

His last big project for Timex was to set up a mock-up making facility in the Philippines and China. He transformed an inconsistent process into an efficient and streamlined process which delivered world class mock-ups and sales samples to the world wide sales force at Timex.

When David is not working on Accu-Link projects, he can be found working part time at the University of Bridgeport in the School of Arts and Sciences as the Model Shop Director . He has consolidated the model shop from multiple locations across the campus. His efforts in the model shop helped the school to be awarded accreditation with NASAD. He teaches Drafting and 3D design. He also mentors the design students in how to build models of their designs.
